Overview
The Frontiers Planet Prize is a global competition recognizing scientists who develop pathways to solutions to keep humanity within the nine planetary boundaries—vital systems that maintain Earth’s stability. Launched by the Frontiers Research Foundation on Earth Day 2022, its mission is to mobilize the academic community, to recognize a National Champion from participating countries and three International Champions, each awarded one million Swiss francs to further their research. Winners are selected based on one peer-reviewed article by an independent jury of 100 leading sustainability experts, chaired by Prof. Johan Rockström.

Join us for a webinar introducing the newly established partnership between the African Academy of Sciences and the Frontiers Planet Prize. This partnership aims to encourage African research institutions working in planetary health and earth system science to participate in the 3rd edition of the prize. The webinar will cover the prize's mission, mechanics, and criteria, and highlight the outputs from the previous two editions. Additionally, we will outline the next steps for institutions interested in participating and becoming a National Nominating Body.

Speakers
• Prof Lise Korsten, President, The African Academy of Sciences
• Prof Jean-Claude Burgelman, Director, Frontiers Planet Prize
• Dr Gilbert De Gregorio, Associate Director, Frontiers Planet Prize
